Theatres, museums and galleries near Bedford Corner Hotel

Theatres and comedy

London is known for its theatres and the famous West End is just a 12 minute walk from Bedford Corner Hotel. Check out what’s on at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, the Adelphi or the Phoenix, book your tickets to see a world famous musical such as Wicked or something as quintessentially British… Only Fools and Horses, anyone?

Part of UCL, Bloomsbury Theatre, a 12 minute walk from Bedford Corner Hotel, showcases some of the best talent in music, theatre and comedy in the UK and beyond, with new work being shown alongside household names. Museum of Comedy, a nine minute walk from Bedford Corner, was founded on April Fool’s Day 2014. Blending history with comedy, the venue shows artefacts from the British comedy scene, alongside showcasing up and coming talent and big names. Sticking with the comedy theme is Chuckle Deli, a 14 minute tube ride away from Bedford Corner Hotel. Catch this monthly comedy club on the last Thursday of every month where prizes, free shots and a disco surround up and comers and seasoned pros. Book your tickets here.

The Magic Circle is a 15 minute walk from Bedford Corner and promises incredible magic shows from talented magicians from the UK and beyond. Founded in 1905, The Magic Circle boasts members including David Copperfield, Stephen Fry and even King Charles 3rd. Check out the shows here.

Museums

There are no end of museums in London, and Bedford Corner Hotel is lucky enough to be conveniently located for many of them. Starting with the British Museum, just four minutes stroll from Bedford Corner, there are a variety of exhibitions and events to take in (some are booking only), or you can browse the collections. 

The Charles Dickens Museum, an 18 minute walk from Bedford Corner Hotel to the home of Dickens, is well worth a visit for fans of the great novelist. Browse the house, which has been preserved as it would’ve been in Dickens’ day, or check out one of the special events

Pollocks Toy Museum is a five minute walk from Bedford Corner Hotel and is the oldest toy museum in the UK. Browse the collection to see if you can spot your favourite childhood toys.

Sir John Soane’s Museum is nine minutes on the tube from Bedford Corner and is based in the home of one of the greatest British architects, built by him over 200 years ago. Museum visits and exhibition entry are free, or you can book private tours here.

Wellcome Collection is a 14 minute walk from Bedford Corner Hotel and is a free museum aiming to challenge how we think about health and the human experience. Check out their events and exhibitions here.   

Art Galleries

London is home to world famous art galleries such as Tate Modern (25 minutes on the tube), the National Gallery (10 minutes on the tube), the National Portrait Gallery (nine minutes on the tube) and the Cortauld Institute (18 minutes on the tube), but Bloomsbury has its own gems to offer within easy walking distance of Bedford Corner Hotel. 

The Brunei Gallery is a six minute stroll from your room at Bedford Corner, and hosts a programme of exhibitions from Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Open Tuesday through Saturday. 

Abbot and Holder is a seven minute walk from Bedford Corner. View or buy a wide array of historical paintings, open Monday through Saturday.

London Contemporary Art is 11 minutes walk from Bedford Corner Hotel and exhibits painting, sculpture, prints and mixed media art. Open Tuesday through Saturday, or Monday by appointment.
