Looking for some downtime during your stay at Bedford Corner Hotel? Where to find the best cocktails near Bloomsbury

Soho, London’s vibrant and energetic entertainment quarter, is just a short 10 minute walk from your room at Bedford Corner Hotel. So when you’ve finished enjoying dinner or a trip to the theatre, you might as well head to Soho to explore the quirky bars and chic cocktail lounges for some serious fun.

Billed as a playground for London’s scoundrels, Cahoots is nestled in the subterranean tunnels beneath Soho. Reminiscent of post war London when rationing was still in force and bootleg booze was on the menu, Cahoots serves classic cocktails and new found favourites (we love an Upper Crust or a Sip for Victory) in old mugs, hip flasks, vintage milk bottles and tin cans.

So set your hair in curlers, dig out your Brylcreem and polish your shoes to step back in time at Cahoots.

Simmons Bar

Forget Happy Hour — Simmons Bar does five… get two cocktails for £10, from 4pm—9pm Sunday through Friday. Located right in the heart of Soho, Simmons offers classic Mojitos and Long Island Iced Teas, alongside Lychee Mar-Tea-Nis served in sweet tea cups and Spicy Margaritas with Jose Cuervo Tequila, Triple Sec, fresh lime, and green jalapeño and red pepper syrup.

And if your Strawberry Daiquiri has given you some new found confidence you can even sing the night away with Simmons karaoke.

A dimly lit hideaway for luxury libations, Disrepute is a hidden gem of a member’s club. Located beneath Kingly Court between Carnaby Street and Beak Street, Disrepute offers impeccable service and warm hospitality alongside an expertly curated drinks menu.

Disrepute embodies a Sixties counterculture vibe, offering a cocktail menu to keep any mixologist on their toes alongside an extensive and exciting array of spirits, all served to a Jazz soundtrack. Disrepute is no ordinary members club and welcomes applications, bookings and walk-ins from non members from all walks of life.

Swift Soho

Open from 3pm (Upstairs) and 5pm (Downstairs), seven days a week, Swift is an award winning bar serving over 300 whiskies from around the world. Swift’s original cocktails are a feast of delights, featuring innovative pairings you won’t have tried before.

Choose between the Earnest Hemmingway — Appleton eight year rum, raspberry, almond, lemon, amontillado and absinthe — or the Dita Von Teese — Tapatio reposado tequila, Reus blanco vermouth, Nardini Mandorla and orange bitters; or kickstart your senses with a Carmen Miranda — green chilli pisco, lime, almond and cucumber.

Bar Termini

Famous for expertly blended coffees and charcuterie, as well as negronis, wines and cocktails, Bar Termini is perfect for an evening out during your stay at Bedford Corner Hotel.

Offering Bellinis and Bloody Marys alongside more unusual cocktails such as Death in Venice — campari, grapefruit bitters and prosecco, and Terroir — flint, clay and lichen distillates, you can enjoy delicious charcuterie and Italian cheeses, finishing off with coffee, just how you like it.

The Blind Pig at Social Eating House

Social Eating House’s The Blind Pig is an award winning bar with a relaxed, speakeasy feel. With antique mirrored ceilings, reclaimed wooden chairs and a copper topped bar, The Blind Pig is perfect for unwinding after a day soaking up all the city has to offer.

The Blind Pig offers an eclectic cocktail menu inspired by classic children’s literature — think Cinderella (clarified, salted grapefruit cordial, prickly pear, fig and cardamom, and London Dry Gin), and Narnia (Mermaid salt vodka, saline solution, Lillet blanc and pickled kale and seaweed), alongside Roald Dahl’s The Twits (Black Irish stout, Kinahan's small batch, Coffee & pineapple tepache and Empress IPA beer) and Spot the Dog (El Dorado, 3yrs Old white rum, Axia mastiha, Lapsang tea, melon, peach, lemon and milk).

Murder Inc

Murder Inc are experts in the great cocktail — intriguing drinks that avoid over complication, created by an experienced team who haven’t lost their sense of fun.

The cocktail menu includes UFO (unidentified french object), a vodka, fudge & oat milk ice cream, buttered popcorn and brioche delight; and What’s It Sour, billed as “whatever the bartender has infused this morning” with sugar, citrus and egg white.

Whatever you fancy, Murder Inc will surprise you, and as it’s tucked just round the corner from Tottenham Court Road, it’d be rude not to…

Basement Sate:

Sate means to satisfy a desire or appetite to the full… Created by two friends and inspired by the Soho revival, Basement Sate is a vibrant and informal getaway.

Basement Sate’s menu offers both classic and signature cocktails featuring an expertly chosen variety of spirits, alongside a sophisticated wine list and an interesting array of European beer and cider.
